Proverbs 14:32

Proverbs 14:32 — The Bible Promise Book

“When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous have a refuge.”

Reflection:

If you are being persecuted or harassed or attacked for standing up for the causes of social justice, equality, fairness, and what is right, know that your hard work will be rewarded in heaven as well as here on Earth.

Good will always triumph over evil.  It may take a while for that triumph, but ultimately, it will come.  There have been many social injustices overturned over the course of our human history–and while change had come slowly or gradually for many important causes, change has occurred and there have been successes.  We live in an ever-changing, always evolving society.  Progress is always being made whenever people are fed up with the status-quo of injustice, complacency, oppression, discrimination, or hatred.  In light of the Supreme Court ruling against legislative bans on same-sex marriage, I know there will be conservative backlash for years to come.  I know it will take generations to pass before full acceptance of this societal change.

Think about how long it took for women in the U.S. to have the right to vote… but once they got that voting power, they worked their way into being fully represented and included in government as leaders and deciders of domestic and foreign policy.  Think about how long it took for the abolishing of slavery… the desegregation of schools and businesses and public services… all these important social injustices have taken long, hard journeys to get where we are today– and in some cases, as with segregation and racial inequality and economic inequalities, we have so much more work to do.

Just know that we continue to fight the good fight and the cause for justice and equality is always a righteous cause.  And our hard work will be rewarded no matter how hard we may suffer to get to our destination.
