Spiritual Joy

“Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: ‘The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!'” Psalm 118:15

“Light is shed upon the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.  Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name.” Psalm 97:11-12

“Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seeds to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.” Psalm 126:5-6

Reflections:

We can take comfort in the knowledge that whatever obstacles we face, whatever valley of darkness or despair we may find ourselves in, these are temporary and are paled in comparison to the final victory and reward we have been promised in Christ’s kingdom if we only allow Jesus in our hearts and believe in the grace of God.  We can be assured that there is a great and powerful spiritual joy that awaits us no matter the hardships we may face in this life because salvation and relief from all suffering and pain awaits us in the next life with God.

We also have an opportunity, in the meantime, in this life that has been given us, to spread joy and happiness to others.  We can provide light for others who wander lost in darkness.  We can bring comfort to the lonesome, the weary, the sick, the hurt, the bullied, the hungry, and the homeless.  We can do God’s work and spread joy to those less fortunate than ourselves and in so doing, build up our own spiritual treasures in heaven by doing God’s work and doing our best to live as Christ would encourage us to live– with love and compassion for others in our hearts.

Spread joy and compassion and love wherever you go, however you can, and may your spirit be filled with joy.
