Proverbs 18:10-11

Today’s message comes from Proverbs 18:10-11

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and like a high wall is his own esteem.” (NKJV)

With politics being on most folks’ minds this coming November in the U.S., and with so much at stake this election season, I look to this passage from Proverbs and find clarity in the confusion and solace in the basic, simple fact that through God, the moral and righteous and faithful will find shelter. If you have any doubts about the direction things are going in life, be aware that God provides for us.

God provides us with shelter– take it from me, I have been homeless since August 1st, 2014, yet I have found shelter and have been provided for through the kindness and generosity of many Christians and inspired people. I have clothes, food, and all the basic essentials because God has worked through these people and inspired them to help their fellow Christians and those less fortunate.

This passage also illustrates a very simple but fundamental truth. God is there to protect. Greed and arrogance becomes a prison for the rich who think only of themselves and their own greatness.
